This was developed for NewsPrinters (News International) to transport larger and heavier paper reels up to 1837mm and weighing 2200kgs, lying down for safer transit due to the centre of gravity.
The system was developed from the Trailerskate system, with a non-slip polyurethane coating applied to the skates to prevent slippage of the reels.
The system operates automatically with 4 lanes of skates that move into the trailer which has the 4 channels to run in, they are raised using an airbag and bring the paper out of the trailer onto the dock in 2 minutes.
This system created a safer, faster way of unloading the paper and also means the paper is damage free as it is secure during transit and unloaded automatically on a dock.

The Newsprint system consists of 4 off 13.6m powered skates running in sunken track.

Independent controls allow pre-marshalling of palletised loads on the warehouse dock, with or without a trailer being present.
Twin ramps align the trailer with the warehouse dock entrance prior to pallet movement.
The trailer receives electrical power from an external socket located on the dock wall; control of the pneumatic system is achieved utilising a trailer mounted control box.
Slipchain conveyor drive is operated from inside the warehouse by remote panel control. A stowage box is fitted on the trailer for the power supply lead.
The Hydraroll TRAILER SKATE ® automated vehicle loading system is a patented product designed to withstand the most demanding applications in the manufacturing and distribution industry.
Operating the Hydraroll TRAILER SKATE ® could not be more straightforward. A complete vehicle load is assembled on the accumulation conveyor system. The vehicle driver then initiates loading by simply pressing a button on the operator control panel located on the conveyor close to the rear of the vehicle.
Once activated the Hydraroll TRAILER SKATE ® drives the complete load forward into the waiting vehicle. Steel channels in the trailer floor guide the skates. The in-fill floor between the channels provides a non-slip surface to support the pallets in the trailer, after the skates have been withdrawn. The Hydraroll TRAILER SKATE ® will load a 13.6 metre semi-trailer in less than 4 minutes.

The moving floor is a low profile lightweight flexible slat conveyor for trailer and dock to load and unload mixed pallet loads and unpalletised loads for high speed, high weight short shuttle operations.
